About the Center The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) established the Geriatrics Workforce Policy Studies (GWPS) Center with funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation. The GWPS Center will build upon the work accomplished under the Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Program's (ADGAP) longitudinal data study, which had been funded by grants from the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The GWPS Center more closely integrates the work of the longitudinal study team – led by Drs. Gregg Warshaw and Elizabeth Bragg – into AGS public policy activities. It will provide AGS with up-to-date and essential information concerning geriatrics, geriatrics training, the geriatrics workforce, and related healthcare delivery topics. This effort will better enable AGS to promptly provide information and commentary concerning geriatrics training, workforce trends, and related matters to policymakers, government agencies, and the media. The Center will also help the AGS proactively reach out to key legislators, government agencies, and the media to raise their awareness of geriatrics workforce and related issues, and guide and support the AGS' legislative agenda. ADGAP participates in AGS legislative activities through seats on the Society's Public Policy Committee and membership in AGS SWAT teams established to quickly respond to emerging legislative issues. Additional information about the Center is available, including: Join our mailing list to receive Training & Practice Updates automatically by email. |
